TITLE:                                              Mental Health Tech – 3rd Shift (12:30 am – 8:30 am)

                                                            Gardner Place Foster Care Facility – Lowndes County


CLASSIFICATION:                         Mental Health Support Worker I


SALARY RANGE:                          $19,760.00 - $30,067.00


SUPERVISOR:                                 Coordinator



This is responsible work providing individual care and wide-awake supervision of residents in the Gardner Place.




Arrange for proper emergency medical care of client population.


Implement and supervise a daily schedule for meals and housekeeping activities.


Monitor and document clients' medication regimens.


Monitor and comply with established procedures for accidents, fires or other emergencies.


As required and authorized, purchase food supplies and other supplies as needed for daily operation of the residence.


Prepare reports of the need for repairs of equipment, furniture and program site.


Ensure compliance with house rules.


Monitor residents in matters of grooming, money management, discipline and social activities.


Transport residents to appointments or activities as needed, if authorized by Program Coordinator.



Some knowledge of behavioral patterns and problems of the mentally ill, disadvantaged or elderly.


Knowledge of household management to include meal planning, housekeeping and program maintenance.

Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with the seriously mentally ill.


Ability to work with the supervisor in terms of facility management, training programs and other residential needs.


Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.




Graduation from high school or equivalent. Some experience in supervising or providing leadership to persons who are disadvantaged, emotionally ill, and/or behaviorally maladjusted would be helpful. Must hold a valid Alabama Driver's License with a good driving record, and maintain a good driving record that is acceptable to the Authority's insurance carrier.


Must hold and maintain current Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certificates and certified as a MAC worker.
