TITLE:                                   Mental Health Medical Assistant/TELEMED/COUNTIES


CLASSIFICATION:              Mental Health Support Worker II


SALARY RANGE:                $27,239.00 - $41,447.00


SUPERVISOR:                      Nurse Coordinator, RN/AOP (Authority Wide)




This is responsible professional work in the clinic of a community mental health center setting.




Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and record the information in the Electronic Health Record.


Document physical assessment of consumers.


Maintain complete and accurate documentation.


Observe safety and security procedures; promote a safe and pleasant work environment.


Assist consumers with signed releases and other forms as needed.


Complete a medication checklist on each consumer seen.


Respond to all patient messages; documenting conversations in electronic medical records.


Responsible for contacting the doctor when any significant change in client medication is indicated.


Arrange for mental health services when needed and assist in obtaining other needed services.


Assist clients in applying for client assistance programs.


Provide transportation for clients if necessary.


Responsible for completing all forms and paperwork required by the Agency.


Participate in training activities to increase skills and become more knowledgeable in methods and techniques used in the care of psychiatric clients and in the use and effects of psychotropic drugs.





Mental Health Medical Assistant – TELEMED/COUNTIES


Perform related work as requested by supervisor.




Knowledge of principles, techniques and standards of clinic setting.


Knowledge of vital signs.


Willingness to provide services in a non-traditional setting.


Ability to relate warmly to clients.


Ability to recognize, in clients, any adverse reactions to medication.




Be a Registered Medical Assistant in the State of Alabama with some experience in the field.


Must hold a valid Alabama Driver's License and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the Authority's insurance carrier. Must maintain liability coverage on personal vehicles.
