JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:                                  Director, Residential Services

 

CLASSIFICATION:                        Clinical Management II

 

SALARY RANGE:              $57,213 - $87,056

 

SUPERVISOR:                     Clinical Director

 

DEFINITION:

This is a responsible professional position that manages and supervises the Authority's mental illness Residential Services.

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Direct and supervise the operation, management and maintenance of all residential properties.

 

Supervise the directors and coordinators of the residential programs in the performance of their respective duties.

 

Supervise the Residential Specialist in the performance of his or her duties.  Provide oversight and consultation for the HUD programs according to agency and HUD guidelines.

 

Approve treatment plans of Authority residential clients.

 

Conduct Treatment Plan Reviews and Administrative Reviews of Residential Consumer charts.

 

Oversee the budgets of the various residential services programs.

 

Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations as needed for various certifications.

 

Provide direct services to clients as needed.

 

Serve on Quality Assurance Committee.

 

Participate in consultation and education activities as needed.

 

Participate in training activities to increase therapeutic and administrative skills.

 

Conduct monthly quarterly trainings for residential staff.

 

Participate in the weekly staffing for all acute care facilities.

 

Complete reports required for client records as well as all forms, reports and paperwork required

Responsible for ensuring program complies with AL Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Community Mental Health Standards, Mental Illness Community Service Contract Service Delivery manual, Medicaid Provider Manual and any other applicable state and federal laws or regulations.

 

Monitor and ensure compliance for Friendship Hall program, abiding by Managing Agent agreement, to include regular Board meetings, preparation for REAC inspections, HUD, and ADMH regulations. 

Responsible for ensuring program staff are current with required training.

 

Responsible for overseeing program staff’s time and productivity.

 

Provide monitoring for nursing home consumers who are residing in nursing homes under a DMH sponsorship, and serve as liaison to those nursing homes.

 

Provide 24/7 on-call coverage in support to directors and coordinators of the group homes, supportive housing, and nursing homes.

 

Perform related work as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Extensive knowledge and training in the dynamics of individual and group behavior with special emphasis on the problems of the chronically mentally ill.

 

Experience in developing and directing clinical program activities in residential services setting.

 

Knowledge of psychotropic drugs concerning their use, misuse, desirable and undesirable effects.

 

Considerable knowledge of Federal procedures and requirements associated with Housing and Urban Development 202/Section 8 Program. Adequate computer skills are a must.

 

Experience in supervising the job performance of clinical staff.

 

Experience in providing a broad range of clinical services to clients suffering from mental illness.

 

Must be certified as HUD (HQS) Housing Quality Standard Specialist within 6 months of hire.

 

Must be certified as Case Manager Supervisor within 6 months of hire

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Master's Degree in social work, counseling or psychology, plus five (5) years post master’s experience in a mental health field.  Must be licensed or license eligible. If license eligible, must have LGSW or ALC credential within three months of hire date.  Must meet requirements of Medicaid for approved Medicaid Provider Status.  Must hold a valid Alabama Driver's License with a good driving record. Must maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the Authoritys insurance carrier.
